Junior Developer of Infinite Knowledge and Power
I’ve posted about this before, but it always gets to me. As a grad students, I see a lot of job postings. After a while, you see a couple of these postings looking for a student with the following skillset:
Requirements:
- Experience developing in Java or C++
- Thorough knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX, AJAX Frameworks, and DOM technologies
- HTML and CSS
- MS SQL Server, ORACLE, or related RDBMS
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- High-degree of creativity and strong analytical mindset
- Pursuing BS or MS degree in computer science, engineering or similar technical field
Preferred:
- PHP/Zend Framework, JSP, ASP.net
- XML/XSLT experience
- Experience creating web services
- Linux/Unix environment proficiency
- UML knowledge
- Experience with Java frameworks, including Struts, Spring, and Hibernate
I can do these things, but I also have about 5 years of work experience in addition to my degree. Hey, half of this stuff isn’t even taught at school. I which them best of luck finding their magical bachelor student :-)
