I’ve posted about this before, but it always gets to me. As a grad students, I see a lot of job postings. After a while, you see a couple of these postings looking for a student with the following skillset:

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX, AJAX Frameworks, and DOM technologies
  • HTML and CSS
  • MS SQL Server, ORACLE, or related RDBMS
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • High-degree of creativity and strong analytical mindset
  • Pursuing BS or MS degree in computer science, engineering or similar technical field

  • PHP/Zend Framework, JSP, ASP.net
  • XML/XSLT experience
  • Experience creating web services
  • Linux/Unix environment proficiency

I can do these things, but I also have about 5 years of work experience in addition to my degree. Hey, half of this stuff isn’t even taught at school. I which them best of luck finding their magical bachelor student :-)
